Youth Camp
Youth Camp is reserved for our campers 8-13 years of age.
Youth Camp incorporates all of the traditional skills Camp Edwards provides. Campers fill their days with 4 skills, cabin activity time, Camper’s Choice, character study, general swim, and nightly activities.
All Youth Campers choose 4 skills (camptivities) that they would like to participate in all week long. It is our intention that the campers will become progressively better at the activities through instruction from counselors and practice. Although they perform the same camptivities throughout the week, Camper’s Choice gives them the opportunity to try other activities camp offers. So even if a child is not able to take, let’s say archery, because of other interests, they still have the opportunity to participate in the activity during Camper’s Choice.
All campers have the opportunity to swim every day and character building activities are woven into the camper’s daily life. Campers learn Responsibility from cabin clean up and dining hall table set up, Caring by adhering to our “Honors” code, Respect through service projects, and Honesty by listening and participating in nightly vespers and devotions.
We schedule our days to maximize the amount of play for each camper, but leave more than enough time for them to make friends and build relationships. Making friends is one of the most magical parts of camp. Many of our campers hold these relationships for many years, if not a lifetime.
