Massage for Members
On the third Thursday of every month, starting September 15, 2011, Nora Adams, nationally certified, Illinois licensed massage therapist, will be available in the lobby of the Taylor Family Branch to provide chair massages. Enjoy a relaxing end to a long workout by signing up at the Member Services desk. The charge will be paid to the Y and can be bank drafted.

Length: 15 minute massage
Fee: Adult Members: $15 Senior Members: $12

GROUP EXERCISE

Helping YOU Make a Commitment to YOUR Health and Fitness. The Taylor YMCA offers a wide variety of fitness classes for all of our members. Whether you are a health-seeker trying to get started, looking for a little motivation, or an avid exerciser, we have the classes for you! Schedule available at the Y or online. Group exercise is for ages 14 and up! If you need help choosing the best class for you, contact Laura Rudie, Health Enhancement/Aquatic Director at 847-888-7410 X17 or lrudie@elginymca.org.


Classes with one participant will be cancelled for that day. Ages 10-13 may participate in classes with * if a parent or guardian is present in class. Classes with ^ are perfect for beginners.

Group Power

Core and More* ^

This class is quick – no fuss – high energy muscle conditioning class that tones and shapes your hips, thighs, butt and abdomen. Exercises target and tone your entire core and lower body. A fun and stress-relieving way to burn off calories!

Power Yoga

A mind-body workout targeted to improve health, athletic performance and mental acuity. Weights, body bar, and ball are included. See also in Mind & Body.


Mind & Body

Pilates* ^

Pilates exercise improves core strength and balances the muscles around the joints, improving the way your body functions, looks and feels. Expect an increase in strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, and body awareness, as well as a decrease in back pain or other general pains.

 

Yoga for Every Body* ^

Designed for all ages, fitness levels, and body types. It takes a more therapeutic approach with individual attention given to specific needs. Helps to develop flexibility and inner peace.


Yoga Stretch* ^

A fully integrated mind-body workout targeted to improve flexibility, endurance, strength and mental acuity.


Yogalates* ^

An upbeat class that combines the slow controlled breathing and stretching of Yoga with the core tightening and strengthening of Pilates.


Low Intensity/Impact Cardio

Back 2 Basics/Low Impact ^

This class offers the benefits of traditional floor aerobics along with muscle strengthening and flexibility exercises. Join this class for a low impact, high fun workout!


Easy Low/Circuit ^

Join this class in the Wellness Center for a fun, low-mid impact workout using the equipment in the Wellness Center. Learn some new moves and enjoy the camaraderie of this class that has tons of variety! This back -to-basics type class will help you make your way to a healthier you.


Circuit Training ^

Join this class in the Wellness Center for a fun, low-mid impact workout using the equipment in the Wellness Center. Learn some new moves and enjoy the camaraderie of this class that has tons of variety! This back-to-basics type class will help you make your way to a healthier you!


Simple Step/Tone ^

This class is ideal for those looking for a low-impact class with basic footwork and lots of fun! Combines step aerobics with body toning.

Zumba Gold ^

It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness-Party is known for: the zesty Latin music, the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere.


SilverSneakers MS-ROM ^ (Adults Only)

Muscular Strength & Range of Movement is the core class of the SilverSneakers Fitness Program. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Moderate-High Intensity Cardio

Boot Camp

This class will give you everything you could want and more!! If you need motivation to stay in shape, this is the class for you! This high energy, group exercise class combines activities to increase cardiovascular endurance, agility, speed, strength and flexibility. All fitness levels are welcome. Be ready to work hard and have some fun!


Cardio Blast

Add some variety to your cardio routine! This class is a mix of traditional aerobics with a dose of strength training.


Cardio Kick*

One of the best full-body workouts you will find. The focus in this class is on both cardiovascular and resistance training through a variety of kicks and punches to improve balance, coordination, strength and flexibility.


Cycle 45 ^

A spin bike, towel and water bottle are a must have for this intense workout! Any fitness level is welcome because YOU are in charge of the intensity. This class takes you through various resistance levels and speeds to give you an effective workout you will LOVE!


Turbo Step

Step your way toward your fitness goals! This class offers a cardio workout that can be modified for various fitness levels. Be ready for some fun, sweat and excitement with this great cardio class!

 

ZUMBA* ^

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away! Experience an absolute blast in each class of caloric-burning, heart-racing, muscle-pumping, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!
